Job Objective:
The CMM Programming – Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and executing CMM inspection programs to support in-process and final inspection activities, while serving as a key quality engineering resource for manufacturing and engineering teams. This role focuses on PC-DMIS programming, dimensional inspection, and data-driven quality analysis to ensure product conformity to engineering requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards. The position supports first article inspections, PPAPs, nonconformance resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives, while maintaining compliance with ISO9001:2015, AS9100, AS1300, and internal quality procedures. The CMM Programming – Quality Engineer plays a critical role in identifying measurement and process variation, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions, and driving improvements in inspection efficiency, product quality, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and optimize PC-DMIS programs for in-process and final inspection of components and assemblies
- Set up and operate CMM equipment to perform dimensional inspections
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements
- Create and maintain inspection plans, reports, and measurement data
- Support first article inspections (FAI), PPAPs, and capability studies as required
- Troubleshoot measurement issues and optimize inspection cycle times
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve dimensional and quality issues
- Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure calibration, verification, and proper use of CMM equipment and fixturing
- Maintain documentation in accordance with internal procedures and quality system requirements
- Act as a Quality Engineering resource for manufacturing and engineering teams
- Support root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and data analysis
- Lead or support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Support process improvements to reduce defects, variation, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Participate in concessions, deviations, waivers, and nonconformance dispositions
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes from a quality perspective
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and quality management systems
- Maintain accurate quality records, reports, and documentation
- Contribute to the development and improvement of quality processes and standards

Required Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering preferred or relative experience in manufacturing or aerospace mechanical engineering field
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a Manufacturing or Quality Engineering role, with at least 3 years in the Aerospace/Aviation industry.
- Strong knowledge of relevant software, quality assurance methods, tools and quality manufacturing processes
