Assistant Project Manager at Elford Inc – Columbus, Ohio
About This Position
We’re seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and cross-functional teams to help manage schedules, documentation, coordination, and day-to-day project execution across Construction Management and General Contracting projects.
What You’ll DoProject Support & Coordination
Assist Project Managers with planning, scheduling, and budgeting activities prior to project start
Support preconstruction, construction, and post-construction efforts to keep projects moving efficiently
Help prepare and organize Superintendent project folders and project documentation
Documentation & Controls
Create, maintain, and track RFIs, submittals, bulletins, schedules, and start-up checklists
Assist with expediting shop drawings, submittals, materials, labor needs, and change order pricing
Maintain and update computerized project schedules
Collect as-built drawings and closeout documentation and prepare project files for archiving
Financial & Administrative Support
Participate in the review of subcontractor, supplier, and company invoices
Assist with change order pricing reviews and documentation
Coordinate with Accounting and Estimating teams as needed
Collaboration & Communication
Help maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, owners, vendors, and internal teams
Support effective communication across all parties involved in project execution
General Responsibilities
Maintain organized work areas in accordance with company standards
Perform additional duties as needed to support project success
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
1–3 years of experience in the construction industry, including experience supporting project management teams
Skills & Attributes
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
Effective written and verbal communication abilities
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively and build positive working relationships
Comfortable using construction and project management software
Willingness to travel based on project needs
