About the Role

We are currently seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team, supporting a client in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Cranbourne, VIC.

In this role, you will provide person-centered support to assist with daily living activities, personal care, and supporting independence in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, including hygiene, grooming, and daily living assistance
  • Perform safe manual handling, including wheelchair transfers, pivot transfers using hand/grab techniques, and use of a slide board
  • Support safe mobility and transfers following best practice procedures
  • Assist with household tasks such as meal preparation, light cleaning, and laundry
  • Support clients with diabetes management, including monitoring and responding to changes in condition
  • Administer subcutaneous medications using pre-filled pens/syringes where trained and authorised
  • Encourage independence and participation in community activities
  • Support clients with mental health needs, promoting emotional wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow individual care plans
  • Ensure the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of the client at all times
Essential Requirements
  • Experience or training in Manual Handling, including wheelchair transfers, pivot transfers, and slide board use
  • Experience with Hoist Transfers
  • Knowledge or training in Continence Management
  • Experience supporting diabetes management
  • Competency in administering subcutaneous injections using pre-filled pens/syringes (in line with training and policies)
  • Experience assisting with Meal Preparation
  • Experience in Personal Care and Hygiene
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desirable
  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or a related field
  • Previous experience in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment
  • Nursing background or relevant clinical experience
