Position Overview
The Host is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression for guests dining in the hotel's restaurants. This role manages reservations, seating flow, and guest inquiries while supporting overall service efficiency. The Host plays a key role in delivering exceptional hospitality and ensuring smooth operations within a full-service hotel Food & Beverage environment.
What You'll Do
Guest Greeting & Hospitality
- Greet guests warmly as they arrive, providing a friendly, professional, and polished first impression.
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus while ensuring all guests feel welcomed and acknowledged.
- Maintain a positive and engaging presence at the host stand at all times.
- Assist guests with special requests, accessibility needs, or highchair/booster seating.
Reservations & Seating Management
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists using the hotel's reservation system.
- Strategically coordinate seating to balance server sections and optimize flow.
- Provide accurate wait times and communicate updates clearly to guests.
- Maintain a tidy, organized reservation book or digital system including guest notes.
Guest Communication & Assistance
- Answer restaurant phone calls, provide information on hours and menus, and assist with reservations.
- Support guests inquiring about hotel amenities, dining options, or local recommendations.
- Communicate guest preferences, allergies, or special occasions to servers and management.
- Assist with to-go orders or takeout packaging when required.
Operational Support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, lobby waiting area, and menus.
- Assist servers by delivering water, coffee, beverages or initial table touches as needed and in accordance to TABC guidelines.
- Support bussing and resetting tables during high-volume periods.
- Provide support during large groups, events, and peak meal periods.
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, bussers, and managers to ensure smooth service.
- Attend pre-shift meetings to stay informed about specials, large parties, or service notes.
- Assist with training new hosts as required.
- Support operational adjustments during busy or slow periods with flexibility.
Safety, Cleanliness & Compliance
- Follow all sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure menus and guest materials remain clean, updated, and sanitized.
- Report spills, hazards, and maintenance concerns promptly to management.
- Adhere to company policies regarding guest interactions and safety procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of menu offerings, promotions, and hotel dining experiences.
- Assist with special events, restaurant activations, or holiday dining functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Food & Beverage operations.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Previous restaurant, host, or customer service experience preferred.
- Experience in a full-service hotel or high-volume dining environment preferred.
- Familiarity with reservation management systems preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Warm, friendly, and outgoing personality with a passion for hospitality.
- Ability to multitask and manage guest flow in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and escort guests across the dining room.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards.

- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to remain calm during peak times.
Licenses or Certificates
- Food Safe Serve/Texas Food Handlers Certification
- CPR certification
- TABC required and maintained
