About This Position
CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a full-time Rapid Rehousing & Homeless Prevention Specialist. This is a short term assignment ending on 9/30/26. Under the supervision of the Diversion Supervisor the Rapid Rehousing & Homeless Prevention Specialist is part of a county program to assist individuals experiencing homelessness obtain adequate housing by utilizing HUD VASH vouchers / income. The RRH & HP Specialist is responsible for building relationships with landlords and referral agencies to assist clients in their housing search and with leasing.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Serve as a liaison and mediator in housing-related matters, including identifying and reporting potential Fair Housing violations, while advocating on behalf of individuals as needed.
- Meet with individuals experiencing significant housing barriers to advise on housing / rental applications or other housing-related services.
- Educate individuals on the various types of housing vouchers available and clearly explain the benefits of participating in voucher programs.
Full-time | 40 hours | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays
Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related discipline or High School Diploma / GED with 2+ years’ of related experience or property management.
- Knowledge of poverty and homelessness causes, trends, issues and solutions.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities to work with citizens, businesses, and others in emotional/stressful situations.
- Strong expertise in strengths-based, solution-focused practice.
- Demonstrates a willingness to openly share lived experience, including current or past use of mental health and/or addiction services, experiences of homelessness, and elements of their personal recovery.
- Proficient in MS Office products as well as general computer literacy.
- Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
- Bilingual skills are a plus!
- MUST have a valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
