About This Position

Job purpose

Position is responsible for the management and leadership of the site’s Quality Management Systems. Person is directly responsible for managing the quality activities and resources required to support engineering requirements for new product development and all production quality control activities. Person is the sites quality management representative and is responsible for maintaining AS9100 certifications by leading and facilitating all customer and third party audits to maintain certifications. Targeted markets are primarily Aerospace and Defense, along with Energy, Industrial, Oil & Gas, Medical and Automotive.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Organizational leader for implementing QMS across the facility
  • Experienced working with and collaborating with other departmental leaders to ensure quality management systems are implemented and functioning
  • Maintaining AS9100 Certification and NADCAP Certification
  • Leading Customer quality audits and insuring compliance to customer requirements
  • Managing the Internal Auditing processes
  • Manage the resources and processes for inspection requirements of manufactured and purchased parts
  • Support new product development and manage quality engineering resources
  • Support production quality control requirement and manage quality technicians resources
  • Manage the customer return process to insure appropriate corrective actions
  • Insure timely and effective corrective actions are implemented within the organization
  • Ensure an effective gage calibration process
  • Develop and report key quality metrics and analysis for management and organization
  • Drive internal process improvements through analysis of Scrap, RMA’s, Corrective Actions, etc.
  • Participate in strategic development of goals and objectives for future years
  • Manage the staffing of the Quality department

Measures of Success

Responsibility

  • Generate effective quality processes throughout facility to achieve goal of 100% quality out the door
  • Partner with vendors to reduce defects
  • Effectively lead facility through certification and customer audits.
  • Reduction of scrap throughout facility, spread the quality doctrine throughout the facility
  • Team development

Measure of Success

  • Dollars of RMA’s each year
  • Number of DDMR’s generated each year
  • Quantity of non-conformances identified during subsequent visits
  • Scrap dollars generated
  • % of staff with DSQR certifications, % of staff doing CMM programming, undesired turnover rate

Qualifications

  • Education: BS/MS Engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Work experience: Experience in aerospace quality systems, maintaining AS9100 registration, leading and developing a quality team.
  • Experienced in statistical analysis or processes other quality certificates.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication, presentation skills and the ability to work well with customers and development team members.
  • Level of travel required: 15% - main focus of the position is to improve / maintain high quality standards and service customers for any quality requirements
  • Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing
  • Periodic lifting of materials and files not to exceed 40 pounds

Working conditions

  • May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
  • Plant wide climate control and air conditioning
  • Could work in areas with excessive noise. NOTE: Ear protection available.

  • Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Required to do repetitive work.
  • Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
