About This Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will oversee the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and cash management, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information.
This role is critical in supporting a complex manufacturing environment, requiring strong understanding of cost accounting, work-in-process (WIP), percentage-of-completion (POC), inventory, job costing, and project-based revenue and margin dynamics. The ideal candidate will possess deep accounting expertise, strong leadership and analytical skills, and proven experience managing and developing accounting teams. Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and oversee accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Lead and manage cash management, including daily cash positioning, short- and long-term cash forecasting, and working capital optimization.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes to support strategic and operational objectives.
- Oversee accounting processes in a manufacturing environment, including inventory valuation, WIP, POC, cost accounting, and margin analysis.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Provide financial analysis and insights related to production efficiency, material costs, labor utilization, overhead absorption, and project profitability.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support audits, banking relationships, and financial reviews as needed.
- Maintain strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation across all financial activities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Expectations for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Success Metrics
Financial Reporting & Close
· Month-end close completed accurately and on schedule (target: consistent on-time close).
· Minimal post-close adjustments and audit findings.
· Financial statements delivered with high accuracy and clarity to leadership.
Cash Management & Working Capital
· Accurate short-term and rolling cash forecasts aligned with actual results.
· Maintain cash conversion cycle through effective management of AR, AP, and inventory.
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
· Accurate inventory valuation, WIP and POC reporting, and job-costing results.
· Improved visibility into project margins, cost drivers, and production variances.
· Monitor materials, labor, and overhead variances through improved reporting and analysis.
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Budgets and forecasts developed and maintained with increasing accuracy.
· Timely identification and communication of risks, variances, and corrective actions.
· Strong alignment between operational performance and financial expectations.
Internal Controls & Compliance
· Strong internal control environment with no material weaknesses identified.
· Successful completion of internal and external audits with minimal findings.
· Consistent adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
· High-performing, well-trained accounting team with clear roles and accountability.
· Develop and strengthen the accounting team to ensure scalability, continuity, and long-term organizational support.
· Improved efficiency, cross-training, and process documentation within the department.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
• Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Minimum of two (2) years in a management or supervisory role.
• Manufacturing, cost accounting, or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to access and navigate all departments within the organization’s facilities.
