Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet Maintenance, this position will be responsible for repairing and restoring motorized vehicles and other equipment to original condition utilizing proper tools and methods.
- Will abide by all government acts and regulations in a safe, efficient and professional manner;
- Estimates damages and prepares written and oral reports;
- Repairs, replaces, renews, modifies and fabricates motorized vehicles and equipment by the following techniques: fibreglass, welding, sanding, bumping and grinding;
- Restores vehicles and equipment for painting (ie: taping, priming, mixing paint);
- Paints by using spray gun and with the use of proper safety equipment;
- Communicates and co-operates with all employees;
- Operates all vehicles and equipment and conducts road tests;
- Maintains cleanliness of tolls, equipment and work areas;
- Instructs and guides other employees and trainees;
- Repairs and/or replaces seats, seat cushions and destination signs.
- Will ensure compliance with corporate health and safety program and legislation per the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Will perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
- Must possess a current Certificate of Qualification 310B (Auto Body & Collision Damage Repairer).
- Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G driver’s licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide authorization for Transit Windsor to obtain a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
- Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and knowledge of the hazards associated with work
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a heavy level of work.
- Must complete a post-offer agility test to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job.
