Industrial Hygienist (BT-26051) at Bastion Technologies, Inc. – Mountain View, California

The Industrial Hygienist will support the space program located in Mountain View, CA.

Provides support for chemical exposure monitoring, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, chemical hazard communication, confined space entry, gas detection, biohazards, lead, asbestos, mold, mercury, regulated carcinogens, compressed gases, indoor air quality, chemical hygiene (laboratory safety), hazard control ventilation, sanitation (food safety) inspections, nanomaterials, ergonomics, and other hygiene programs required to ensure employee safety and health in an industrial research environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Executes the Industrial Hygiene SOW and task orders following the requirements, deliverables, and deadlines provided by the customer.
• Perform air and noise sampling for both area and personal exposure assessments.
• Write and review sampling plans, as well as other special projects based on OSHA, NIOSH, or other validated analytical methods.
• Provide design recommendations on new ventilation systems along with assessing current ventilation systems based on ACGIH recommendations on a quarterly, annual, or biennial basis.
• Evaluate and recommend methods to control for various worker or employee exposures to chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards.
• Write and update standard operating procedures for the industrial hygiene team based on contract requirements.
• Review chemical purchases and provide recommendations for hazard controls, PPE, and air sampling.
• Perform annual audits of shops, labs, and offices to support OSHA VPP certification.
• Deliver various Industrial Hygiene related trainings as well as present results/recommendations to supervisors and senior management.
• Provide monthly metrics of deliverables to the customer.
• Other duties as assigned.

• This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of science, engineering, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
• Must be a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the Board for Global EHS Credentialling (BGC) or have the ability to obtain the CIH certification within 1 year of hire.
• Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
• Must have experience writing and reviewing technical reports that follow standard scientific methodology.

DESIRED:

• Master of Science or Public Health degree in the field of industrial hygiene, occupational health, or a related field.
• Knowledge of EHS software (e.g. Cority).
• Experience with exposure modeling software (e.g. ART, IHMod, IHSkinPerm, SDM, etc.)
• Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) by the State of CA (Cal OSHA).
• Certified Lead Inspector/Assessor by the State of CA (CDPH).
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BSCP).
• Experience working as a government contractor or on government contracts.

WORK LOCATION:

• This position offers a hybrid work schedule; some travel may be required.
• Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.

• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

SALARY RANGE:

$125K to $145K, salary will depend on education and experience.
