Impact Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, program, and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-precision components from solid models and technical drawings. This role is responsible for machining tight-tolerance parts using a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, brass, titanium, and composites. The machinist will support both prototype and production work, ranging from short-run parts to high-volume manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will apply strong knowledge of machining practices, materials, mechanics, and mathematics to fabricate and modify components, maintain tooling inventory, and perform routine machine maintenance. This position also requires inspecting completed parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure all specifications and quality standards are met. The CNC Machinist plays a key role in maintaining efficient operations while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high workmanship standards.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all health, safety, quality, and environmental rules and regulations on behalf of yourself and your team.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards following 6s processes.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of material hardness, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques.
- Interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) per part drawings.
- Operate and maintain machinery (e.g., milling machines, computer-controlled mills and lathes, shears, and general shop equipment.) Cross train on all equipment to prevent lapse in delivery schedules.
- Provide input to design engineers including incorporation of experimental ideas into prototype parts.
- Assist supervisor in shop operation (oversight, work order generation, etc.) during absences or times of high-volume production.
- Create parts from a drawing, manufacturing operations and tooling instructions, or engineering instruction.
- Perform necessary task and paperwork for the proper movement and control of parts and material in conjunction with manufacturing tracking systems.
- Perform other duties as required to meet delivery schedules.
Competencies:
- Demonstrates advanced ability to program, set up, and operate 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machines to produce precision parts within tight tolerances. Knowledge of material properties, cutting tools, machining parameters, and coolant requirements.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
- Recognizes machining issues during production and implements corrective actions.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of material properties including aluminum, steel, brass, titanium, and composites, and applies proper machining techniques, cutting tools, coolant usage, and speeds/feeds accordingly.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to dependability and fulfilling obligations.
- Strong collaboration and professional communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 5 years’ experience programing and machining
- Experience with Camworks software (Preferred)
- Experience with Okuma machines and OSP-300MA controls (Preferred)
- Experience with programming, set-up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts holding close tolerances throughout the machining process to meet QA standards.
- 5 Axis machining experience a plus
- Ability to work independently as well in a team environment
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and written or verbal instructions
- Ability to produce complex parts creating own fixtures and tooling for a variety of material types
- Recognize and correct issues during the machining processes
- Background in general fabrication and assembly a plus
- Ability to do general maintenance on machining equipment
- Posses’ high attention to detail and self-motivation skills
- Dependability is a must. Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations
- Cooperation and a professional mannerism are required with others on the job and displaying a good natured, cooperative attitude.
- Ability to operate basic fabrication equipment and use of tool
- Must be a U.S citizen due to DoD contract requirements

Salary Information:
The estimated salary range for this position is $32-$40 per hour, based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, skill set, and market conditions. Pay and Benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
