About This Position
We’re hiring a Senior Accountant who likes things clean, accurate, and done right the first time—and who knows how to keep up in a fast-paced, structured environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who works independently, moves quickly, and relies on facts and data—not guesswork.
You’ll be the person making sure the numbers actually make sense—owning the details behind the scenes so projects, billing, and financials stay aligned. If you prefer private recognition over the spotlight and appreciate personalized rewards for doing great work, you’ll fit right in.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, ensuring financial accuracy, and managing project-level accounting within a restoration services environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining complete, accurate, and timely financial data, with an emphasis on job costing, accruals, and balance sheet integrity.
Within a project-based environment, the Senior Accountant helps ensure financial activity is properly recorded, providing visibility into profitability, cash flow, and overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Month-End Close & Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, payroll, revenue)
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, WIP, fixed assets)
• Support timely and accurate monthly close process
• Assist in preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
2. Job Costing & Project Accounting:
• Support job costing processes and ensure accurate cost allocation
• Maintain WIP schedules and assist with revenue recognition
• Review project costs for accuracy and completeness
• Identify discrepancies in labor, materials, or subcontractor costs
3. Revenue Recognition & Billing Support:
• Assist in applying appropriate revenue recognition methods
• Support billing accuracy (often tied to insurance claims)
• Reconcile billed vs. earned revenue
4. Balance Sheet Integrity:
• Maintain and reconcile key accounts:
o Work-in-progress (WIP)
o Accrued expenses
o Prepaids
o Fixed assets
• Ensure supporting documentation is complete and audit-ready
5. Process & Systems Support:
• Assist in improving accounting processes and controls
• Support ERP system accuracy (e.g., Sage Intacct)
• Help standardize procedures across projects and teams
6. Compliance Support:
• Support tax and compliance requirements
• Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–6+ years of accounting experience
• Experience in construction, restoration, or project-based accounting preferred
Strong understanding of:
o Accrual accounting
o Account reconciliations
o Job costing basics
Success Profile:
• Produces accurate, clean financials with minimal rework
• Maintains strong control over balance sheet accounts
• Understands how accounting ties to project profitability
• Proactively identifies and resolves issues
