Position OverviewThe Part-Time Advanced Transplant Coordinator is a clinically experienced transplant professional responsible for delivering high-quality support across organ offer evaluation, coordination, and transplant logistics. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and communication skills to support multiple transplant programs while maintaining compliance with United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) policies and transplant center protocols.
Part-Time Coordinators will be cross-trained to support 2–3 clinical teams and are expected to maintain flexibility in coverage based on operational needs. Coordinators must be available to work a minimum of five (5) 12-hour shifts per month, with schedules provided in advance by their manager based on availability and organizational demand. Additionally, Coordinators are expected to make reasonable efforts to cover unexpectedly open shifts on shorter notice as requested and whenever possible.
This role requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to achieving optimal outcomes for transplant centers and patients. This role is fully remote, and the employee will need to provide their own reliable home internet, pc and phone to perform job duties.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical support for organ offer evaluation, allocation, and coordination in alignment with UNOS policies and transplant center-specific protocols
- Maintain competency across 2–3 assigned clinical teams, including workflows, preferences, and communication pathways
- Deliver timely, measured and accurate responses to organ offers within UNOS-designated timeframes (UNOS Policy 5.6)
- Enter provisional yes decisions when required to prevent offer timeouts and escalate per protocol when physicians are not reachable
- Communicate effectively with transplant surgeons, coordinators, OPOs, and internal teams in a professional and collaborative manner
- Demonstrate strong understanding of donor management, including the ability to suggest clinically appropriate interventions aligned with transplant center expectations
- Participate in structured handoffs at shift change, ensuring all pertinent clinical and logistical information is communicated clearly
- Maintain readiness for on-call responsibilities, including:
- 5–10 minute response time
- Backup phone access
- Reliable backup internet access
- Problem-solve dynamically to address unexpected clinical or logistical challenges in the transplant process
- Accurately document all work hours in designated timekeeping systems (e.g., Synerion)
- Minimum of 2 years of transplant or donation experience required (OPO, transplant center, or equivalent)
- Preferred previous RN/RT/CST experience
- Bachelors degree with relevant coursework
- Strong working knowledge of UNOS policies, organ allocation, and donor management practices
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to organ transplantation
- Ability to manage multiple programs and workflows simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of proficiency with clinical systems and computer-based workflows
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work extended hours (12-hour shifts) with sustained focus and performance
