Job Description Summary

As the Regulatory Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for leading regulatory oversight of projects within the USA business unit, ensuring that all food products, processes, and marketing efforts meet relevant regulatory standards. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, offering strategic guidance and making key decisions to drive both compliance and innovative product development. Your expertise will support the successful launch and ongoing maintenance of compliant, high-quality products in the marketplace. Additionally, you will mentor team members and model a keen attention to detail, leveraging your comprehensive knowledge of food industry regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Strategy & Compliance
    • Implement regulatory strategies to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other relevant food regulations.
    • Monitor and assess new and evolving regulatory developments, evaluate their impact on the business, and communicate necessary actions.
    • Define regulatory requirements and create general guidelines for product testing, country standards, and compliance processes.
  • Product & Marketing Oversight
    • Lead the regulatory review and approval process for all products, labels, marketing materials, and digital content to ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
    • Provide proactive guidance on regulatory considerations for product innovation, new ingredient adoption, and market expansion opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and regulatory excellence across R&D, marketing, legal, and quality teams.
    • Manage multiple projects and deliver clear, actionable regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams.
    • Contribute to the development of group-wide policies and drive continuous improvement in internal processes and ways of working.
  • External Engagement & Change Management
    • Network with external industry peers and leverage influence tactics aligned with organizational objectives.
    • Lead complex regulatory change projects from proposal through implementation.
    • Demonstrate advanced understanding of regulatory frameworks, interpreting and communicating intersections to support robust business decisions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a regulatory affairs role within the food industry
  • Direct experience with FDA and USDA regulations
  • Broad regulatory knowledge with proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead regulatory change
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Effective crisis management, with sound decision-making under pressure
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and multi-tasking abilities, both independently and as part of a team
  • Exceptionally organized, with keen attention to detail
  • Proactive problem solver, anticipating needs and acting efficiently
  • High learning agility, quickly adapting to new regulatory requirements and responsibilities
  • Actively builds relationships and networks with industry peers to stay informed and influence external regulatory environments

Working Conditions

Work is performed hybrid environment. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines and other concerns. Up to 5% business travel may be required.

Total Rewards

  • Base Salary: $120,000 – 140,000
  • Bonus Opportunity: 15%
