Position Summary: Based at our Lake Club, Mountaintop’s Outdoor Pursuits Program offers assistance and instruction for a wide variety of water sports. These include but are not limited to wake surfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, paddle boarding, tubing, and kayaking. The Harbor Master is responsible for overseeing boat operations, facilitating safe and fun instruction for all members and guests, as well as assisting the Lake Club Manager and Watersports Instructors with day-to-day operations. It is the goal of this program to provide members and guests with a once in a lifetime outdoor recreation experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Lake Club):
- Assists with daily operations such as opening, closing, side duties, cleanliness, and dock operations.
- Assist members with rental boat check out and reservations and ensure Daily Activity Log is completed and turned in at the end of the shift.
- Assist with Jonas and completing charges for all reservations, rentals, and other services.
- Assist Manager on all boating operations and boat reservations.
- Communicate on a daily basis with Lake Club Manager and the Director to allow for a coordinated effort at providing a quality experience for members and guests.
- Enforce all of the club rules and ensure accurate billing on monthly statements.
- Monitor the repairs and maintenance of Facilities and communicates as needed to others.
- Conducts daily pre-shift meetings with staff discussing specials, reservations, safety, etc.
- Participates in informative, focused weekly manager meetings.
- Actively looks for and identifies techniques to increase revenue.
- Assist in the developmental planning and execution of events, camps, and activities.
- Steward of the Clubs Facilities and Vehicles.
- Knowledge of Lake Glenville and ability to instruct, coach, and facilitate water sports and recreation such as wake surfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, wake skate, knee boarding, SUP boarding, kayaking, and canoeing.
- Demonstrate watersports and watercraft knowledge through safe and engaging instructional lessons both on water, and within Marina.
- Adhere to all North Carolina State Boating Laws and Regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and functioning of Club and member owned boats.
- Assist members and guests with anything they might need. If a member is on the premise, they should have the full attention of the staff.
- Ensure safety of members while on watercraft and watercraft activities.
- Keep the Lake Club clean, organized, and proper storage of equipment.
- Prepare all boat and water sports equipment for reservation, or walk-ins by insuring they have gas and are cleaned and stocked.
- Work various hours, holidays, weekends, and long hours on feet. (Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day are Required)
- Work on the water for extended periods.
- Ensure the highest standard of health and safety is adhered to and that guests are coached on the effective/safe use of all equipment.
- Be outgoing and involved with the members and guests on and off the water. Always maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Go above and beyond to provide members and guest with once in a lifetime recreation experiences.
- Uphold an excellent standard of customer service.
- Encourage members and guest to partake in water sport activities.
Qualifications:
- North Carolina Boaters Safety Certificate
- Red Cross First Aid & CPR Training
- 1-2 years of experience with boats
- Water sports enthusiast
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Work various hours, holidays, weekends, and long hours on feet. (Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day are Required)
- Work on the water for extended periods.
- Be able to swim.
