Books to Dirt

Part 1

Best Suited For: High School Students or incoming College Freshmen looking to begin a career in Heavy Civil Construction.

Scopes of Work Covered:

  • General Labor
  • Mass Grade/Finish
  • Underground Utilities
  • Paving
  • Milling
  • Concrete

Training to Complete:

  • New Hire Safety
  • OSHA 10
  • Flagger Certification
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Various Equipment Simulators

Semester: 11 Weeks

All work will be field based and will include 3 Check-In Reports throughout the semester.

Notes:

  • Schedule will be flexible based on applicant availability.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the program.

Dirt to Desk

Part 2

Best Suited For: College Students that have completed at least one year of college and are majoring in Civil Engineering, Building Science, or another related field OR an individual that has complete 3+ years of hands-on field experience in one or more areas of Heavy Civil Construction with a recommendation letter from a Superintendent or current supervisor

This semester will begin with a Field Refresh before the department rotations.

  • Quarry Operations
  • Field Management
  • Estimating
  • Project Management
  • Accounting

Training to Complete:

  • MSHA New Miner and Task Training

Semester: 10 Weeks

Some work will be field based and some work will be office based. This semester will include 3 Check-In Reports throughout the semester.

  • Schedule will be flexible based on applicant availability.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the program.

Desk to Career

Part 3

Best Suited For: College students that have successfully completed their degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, or another related field OR an individual that has successfully completed the Dirt to Desk Program

Choose Your Track:

  • Estimating
  • Project Management
  • Field Management
  • Office Administration

Semester: 9 Weeks

Work will vary based on learning track that is selected. This semester will include 3 Check-In Reports throughout the semester.

  • Schedule will be flexible based on applicant availability.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the program.
