Medical Technologist

JOB SUMMARY

Conducts routine and complex tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, and performs related duties, following established standards and practices. Assumes responsibility for problem solving, systems control, and instruction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or experience required by certification entity. Not required for MTs with Health & Human Services certification given prior to 1987.

Minimum Work Experience

• No previous experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Completion of formal training program in an approved MT, MLS, or MLT program
• Registered as a MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP),or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Compile statistics.
• Input data into computer programs.
• Maintain logs.

Ability to use CRT and diagnostic equipment.
