Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned logistics professional with strong exposure to project cargo handling (heavy engineering equipment) and end-to-end export-import operations across major Western India ports. The role requires expertise in freight forwarding, CHA coordination, transportation planning, and vendor billing processes, ensuring seamless execution of shipments and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Project Cargo & Port Operations
  • Manage logistics operations for heavy engineering cargo such as Incinerators, Heat Exchangers, Boilers, etc.
  • Coordinate shipments across major ports including JNPT (Nhava Sheva), Hazira, Mundra, and Kandla.
  • Handle breakbulk cargo planning, loading, and port handling activities.
  • Ensure smooth coordination with port authorities, shipping lines, and internal stakeholders.
Export-Import Operations
  • Execute end-to-end Export & Import documentation and operations.
  • Work extensively on ICEGATE portal for:
    • Shipping Bill filing
    • Bill of Entry
    • EGM / IGM
    • Drawback & RoDTEP claims
  • Liaise with CHA (Customs House Agents) for customs clearance processes.
Freight Forwarding & Shipping Coordination
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and air freight agents for bookings and shipment planning.
  • Handle container planning, including:
    • Container type selection
    • Space optimization
    • Cargo configuration
  • Manage air freight and sea freight documentation and coordination.
Transportation & Logistics Planning
  • Plan and execute transportation logistics, including:
    • Vehicle placement
    • Route planning
    • Real-time tracking of shipments
  • Coordinate with transporters to ensure timely dispatch and delivery.
Vendor Management & Billing
  • Strong understanding of billing cycles of Freight Forwarders, CHA, and Transporters.
  • Perform invoice verification and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with Accounts/Finance teams for:
    • Timely vendor payments
    • Avoidance of demurrage/detention charges
  • Follow up proactively with vendors and internal teams for closure.
Courier & Miscellaneous Logistics
  • Manage domestic and international courier shipments (DHL and other service providers).
  • Ensure timely documentation and dispatch.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Western India port operations
  • Hands-on experience in project cargo logistics & breakbulk handling
  • Expertise in ICEGATE and customs documentation
  • Strong coordination skills with CHA, freight forwarders, transporters
  • High attention to detail in billing, compliance, and documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and stakeholders simultaneously
Preferred Background
  • Prior experience in Freight Forwarding / CHA operations
  • Exposure to engineering / EPC / manufacturing industry logistics
Education & Experience
  • Graduate (any discipline)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in logistics, export-import, and project cargo handling
