Job Summary:
A successful candidate will possess strong machine design skills and hold responsibility for innovative mechanical design of part fixtures, robotic EOAT’s, and or electro-mechanical devices. These designs will be utilized in our robotic metal finishing applications, by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Design new heads, indexers and enclosures.
- Design complex tooling, fixtures, and robotic end-of-arm tooling used in the aerospace, firearm, and medical industries.
- Design production tooling and or fixtures used in the metal finishing industry.
- Utilize engineering principles and standard engineering tools to take existing early design concepts through to production.
- Modify designs using CAD software tools.
- Participates in design/manufacturing reviews to resolve issues and institute improvements as opportunities arise.
- Generate 3D solid models for geometry of fixture and tooling concepts as well as 2D detailed drawings.
- Executes and documents design revisions and drawing releases.
- Provide periodic updates to management (tooling status reports, projects summaries, costs, etc.)
- Work with internal and external tool suppliers to ensure that final builds meet design and functionality intent and are produced at expected cost.
Skills Required
- Seasoned knowledge of design principles of machine tool design and construction
- Advanced user of CAD software tools (preferably Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD) as well as the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, ratios, and trigonometry.
- Excellent critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to reason and apply common sense to carry out instructions given verbally or written.
- Ability to work well with others
Experience / Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience consisting of a minimum of five years of experience as a Design Engineer in the machine tool industry
