About the Role:

The Utility Porter plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency of a corporate / manufacturing facility. This position ensures that all workspaces, equipment, and common areas are kept in optimal condition to support smooth production processes. The Utility Porter is responsible for the timely removal of waste, transportation of materials, and assisting various departments with logistical support. By performing these duties diligently, the Utility Porter helps to create a safe and productive environment for all employees. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall effectiveness and reputation of the manufacturing operation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8+ hours and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. (repetative)
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety standards and practices.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality. Must have valid drivers license.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in custodial, facilities, housekeeping environment.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of corporate office floors, storage areas, and common spaces by performing regular cleaning and waste disposal.
  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment between departments (locations) to support corporate office maintenance activities.
  • Assist in loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring materials are stored correctly and safely.
  • Regularly operate high-pressure washing equipment to clean building facades, loading docks, sidewalks, and outdoor equipment to maintain a pristine professional appearance
  • Execute scheduled window washing for both ground-level and accessible upper-story windows, ensuring a streak-free finish across office and warehouse glass.

  • Monitor and report any maintenance or safety issues observed during daily rounds to the appropriate personnel.
  • Support the team with ad hoc tasks such as setting up workstations, moving heavy items, and assisting with the overall cleanliness of the company.
  • Vacuum carpets and mop floors daily in corporate office and facilitates
  • Keep utility rooms clean and in good working order
  • Clean and shampoo carpets, strip and wax floors when needed
  • Pick up trash around the building and parking lots daily and power was common areas and parking lots
  • Straighten signals and parking signs in and around the facilitates (report any problems with outside property to the manager)
  • Repair and maintain housekeeping equipment (vacuums, etc. )
  • Refill soap dispensers in all common areas and replace batteries as needed
  • Deliver cafeteria and cleaning supplies to each building
  • Inspect all fire extinguishers at each budling and provide findings to Facilitates Manager
  • Help set up and break down furniture for company meetings, luncheons, or training sessions.
  • Assist the maintenance & housekeeping team when necessary
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Skills:

The Utility Porter utilizes physical stamina and attention to detail daily to maintain a clean and safe work environment, which is essential for uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Effective communication skills enable the porter to coordinate with various departments and report issues promptly, ensuring swift resolution. Organizational skills are applied when managing materials and equipment to prevent clutter and hazards. Familiarity with safety protocols helps the porter identify and mitigate potential risks, contributing to overall workplace safety. Additionally, the ability to operate or assist with material handling equipment enhances efficiency in transporting goods and supplies throughout the facility.
