String Instrument Repair Apprentice – Full-Time at Menchey Music Service – Hanover, Pennsylvania

Menchey Music Service has been a cornerstone of the music community since 1936, providing instruments, supplies, and music education to students, schools, and families across the region. We're growing our Repair Team and looking for a motivated individual to train from the ground up as a String Instrument Repair Apprentice. At Menchey, we invest in people. This is a Monday – Friday position with semi-flexible daytime hours at our Operations Center in Hanover, PA.

What You'll Be Doing

• Learning to inspect, repair, and maintain string instruments (orchestral and fretted) for our school rental fleet and walk-in customers
• Assisting with daily shop operations including repair estimates, parts inventory, and instrument processing
• Growing your skills through hands-on training and team collaboration
• Helping identify ways to improve shop efficiency and workflow
• Building relationships with customers, schools, and educators by delivering a great service experience

What We're Looking For

We're open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are excited to learn and commit to a new craft – no formal repair training or college degree required. You might be a great fit if you have:

• A background or strong interest in music, especially orchestral strings or guitar

• Experience in any detail-oriented, hands-on trade, such as woodworking, electronics, crafts, mechanical work, or similar

• A patient, precise approach to physical tasks and fine motor work

• Good communication skills and a team-first attitude

• Basic computer skills and the ability to stay organized

• A high school diploma or equivalent
