Job Description
EHS Specialist

- The hiring range for this role is typically between $70,000-$85,000 based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
Primary Function:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the EHSQ Manager by administering and maintaining the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and assisting with day‑to‑day facilities projects. This role focuses on routine execution, compliance support, data tracking, and continuous improvement of EHS initiatives, while helping ensure facilities projects are evaluated and implemented in alignment with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key EHS contact for employees
- Assist the EHSQ Manager in the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs
- Conduct routine EHS walkthroughs and inspections of facilities, work areas, and projects; document findings and track corrective actions
- Assist with incident and near‑miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action tracking
- Review and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments, and associated documentation
- Participate in evaluating new and existing processes, equipment, and facilities projects for safety hazards and regulatory requirements, and performing job safety/hazard analysis
- Assist in preparing, revising, and updating EHS policies, procedures, trainings, and related documentation
- Support regulatory compliance by staying informed of applicable federal, state, and local EHS requirements and escalating concerns as appropriate
- Coordinate and run the safety committee
- Assist with administering EHS training programs
- Manage hazardous waste and disposal activities
- Gather, track, and maintain environmental performance data
- Assist with oversight and coordination of day‑to‑day facilities projects and maintenance activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or other STEM-related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment preferred
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values
- Pass a post-offer background verification
Work Environment
Office: Standard office environment with normal office-related conditions. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Additional work in Assembly/Manufacturing and Shop environments with various types of machinery where appropriate PPE must be worn or in Warehouse environments to do inspections, evaluations, and incident investigations.
