Job Description

Creative Director (or, Lead Writer of Interesting Things)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Creative Director (or Lead Writer of Interesting Things) in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, product experience, and emotional brand-building. You will be responsible for redefining how millions of customers experience and feel about car ownership through language that is human, empathetic, and engaging. Rather than transactional messaging, you will shape a voice that builds trust, clarity, and long-term relationships with users navigating stressful and complex decisions. Working closely with product, design, growth, and insights teams, you will transform customer communications into meaningful touchpoints across CRM, in-app experiences, and lifecycle campaigns. This is a high-impact creative leadership role where words directly influence user behavior, brand perception, and customer loyalty at scale. You will operate in a fast-paced, data-informed environment while championing the emotional and narrative side of the product experience.

Accountabilities:
  • Redefine and elevate all customer-facing communications, including email, SMS, CRM flows, and in-app messaging, shifting from transactional language to relationship-driven storytelling.
  • Own the development of the brand voice across organic surfaces, ensuring consistency, clarity, and emotional resonance in every interaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Growth, Customer Insights) to translate user pain points into empathetic, high-impact messaging.
  • Write and refine lifecycle campaigns that improve engagement, trust, and long-term customer retention.
  • Lead the creative direction for tone and messaging across product launches, feature communication, and customer education materials.
  • Engage directly with users and community spaces to gather insights and shape authentic, audience-driven narratives.
  • Expand into broader brand storytelling and organic content (e.g., social media, community engagement) as voice maturity evolves.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in creative marketing with a strong focus on copywriting, particularly across CRM, email, and SMS channels.
  • Proven experience working within consumer-focused startups or high-growth digital products.
  • Exceptional writing portfolio demonstrating the ability to simplify complex, emotional, or technical topics into clear and compelling copy.
  • Deep expertise in copywriting, audience development, and product positioning.
  • Strong understanding of digital communities, including platforms like Reddit and broader social media ecosystems.
  • First-principles thinker capable of turning user insights and qualitative data into resonant messaging strategies.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, analytical environments while advocating for creative and brand-led thinking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary aligned with experience, skills, and location
  • Equity opportunities as part of the total compensation package
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and flexible vacation policy
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching
  • Wellness benefits and employee support programs
  • Flexible, fast-moving startup environment with high ownership and creative autonomy
  • Opportunity to define and build a brand voice from the ground up in a high-impact role
