Summary/Objective:

We are looking for an experienced SDS2 Detailer to join our team and contribute to the accurate and efficient detailing of structural steel projects. This position will work closely with our senior SDS2 detailers. This role is ideal for someone developing their understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes who can produce precise models and drawings while working under guidance from senior team members.

Essential Functions:

• Develop 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using SDS2 software
• Produce shop drawings, erection plans, and bills of material
• Interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure constructability and accuracy
• Perform thorough checking of drawings and models for quality control
• Manage revisions and updates throughout project lifecycles
• Identify and resolve detailing and connection issues

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience as an SDS2 Detailer (structural steel required)
• Proficiency in SDS2 software
• Strong knowledge of AISC, OSHA, and industry detailing standards
• Ability to read and interpret structural design documents
• Experience with connection design and shop fabrication practices
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as an SDS2 Detailer (structural steel required)
• Experience working directly with fabrication shops or steel erectors
• Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection processes

Work Environment:

• Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
• Position may require visits to construction site
• Flexible work arrangements (if applicable)

Physical Demands:

• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machine

• May require infrequent travel
