This role offers a dynamic blend of pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure recovery care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
You’ll collaborate closely with gastroenterologists and interdisciplinary teams while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and an exceptional overall experience.
Compensation: Starts at $30.00 per hour, based on education, experience, and internal equity
Status: Non-Exempt

What You’ll Do as an Endoscopy RN Pre-Procedure Patient Care-
Assess and prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, ensuring all protocols are followed.

Obtain and document medical history, allergies, and current medications.

Educate patients on procedures, expectations, and post-procedure care.

Assist gastroenterologists and procedural teams during endoscopy procedures.

Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.

Administer medications, including conscious sedation, as prescribed.

Monitor patients in the recovery area and assess readiness for discharge.

Provide post-procedure education and address patient concerns.

Ensure safe and effective transitions of care.

Work closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Contribute to individualized care planning for gastroenterology patients.

Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols at all times.

Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of endoscopy equipment.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR).

Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Previous experience in an endoscopy suite or gastroenterology setting highly desirable

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Proficiency in patient assessment and procedural nursing care

Familiarity with endoscopy procedures and gastroenterology workflows

Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems

Strong organizational and time management skills

Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional standards

Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during procedures

Manual dexterity and coordination for assisting with endoscopy equipment

Ability to assist with patient positioning and clinical tasks

Physical stamina to meet procedural and patient care demands

Outpatient endoscopy suite within a gastroenterology clinic
-
Exposure to a variety of procedures and patient conditions
-
Fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment

Strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols
