POSITION SUMMARY

The Rehabilitation Technician/BA II assists assigned adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with their physical care; participates in the implementation of the patient's plan of care as directed by the RN; Maintains an organized and safe patient/unit environment. Functions as a resource for rehab techs and BA's. Provides safety, structure and physical care in a consistent manner to patients with physical impairments, impaired reasoning and thinking skills and/or behavior issues.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Job requirement: You must have a current schedule for the specific unit/shift you are applying to (nights on Mon, Fri, Sat, and Sun, Wed, and Thu).

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required. CNA license required.
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent, CNA Training from an accredited program preferred.
  • Experience:CNA or care provider experience required. Previous experience with patients with SCI, TBI and/or mental health is required. Must be a current Craig Hospital employee with a recommendation from a nurse leader and satisfactory performance in the prior year.
  • Skills & Abilities: Ability to take exceptional care of patients by providing multi-skilled direct patient care as delegated by the RN. Knowledge of patient safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated with a positive attitude.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide personal direct care for patients in collaboration with the RN.
  • Utilizing a consistent, patient-focused care approach to meet patient needs and demonstrate initiatives to utilize a holistic approach to identify patient needs; Assist with the patient dining process by serving meals/feeding; Instruct patients in self-care and instrumental activities of daily living to provide skill practice including but not limited to bathing, dressing and daily grooming activities.
  • Support the plan of care by carrying out and recording specific nursing care procedures such as bowel program procedures, applying heat and cold, emptying catheter, measuring and recording intake and output, measuring weight gain or loss, and providing emotional support and encouragement to all patients.
  • Prepare and maintain a record of observations and care given. Document information clearly and completely utilizing correct forms and in a timely manner according to hospital policy.
  • Use Standards of Care and hospital policies/procedures to guide practice.
  • Demonstrate competency in time management, organization, prioritization & critical thinking by planning and organizing work assignments and prioritizing the specific needs of the patients.
  • Use bodies, tools, or special devices to safely, effectively, and efficiently to move, guide, or place patients. Involve some latitude for judgment with regard to precision attained and the selection of what adaptive device(s) to utilize.
  • Function as a preceptor of new Rehab Techs demonstrating competent teaching skills.
  • Manage unit projects and represent coworkers on unit-based council.

Salary Range: $20.56/ Hour — $29.61/ Hour + Shift Differentials
