This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Oncology Disease Area Strategy Lead in United States.

This is a high-impact strategic leadership role at the intersection of oncology science, commercial strategy, and early pipeline development. The position plays a critical part in shaping how early-stage oncology assets are evaluated, prioritized, and advanced toward commercialization within a global biopharmaceutical environment. You will partner closely with R&D, business development, finance, and global marketing teams to ensure that scientific innovation is aligned with long-term commercial success and patient needs. The role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, scientific understanding, and commercial acumen, with influence extending across enterprise-level portfolio decisions. Operating in a highly cross-functional and executive-facing environment, you will help define investment strategies and commercial frameworks that guide early oncology innovation. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of oncology therapies from the earliest stages of development.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and drive early-stage oncology commercial strategy in partnership with senior leadership, ensuring alignment between R&D investment decisions and long-term business objectives
  • Develop and apply structured frameworks to evaluate and prioritize early pipeline oncology assets based on scientific differentiation, commercial viability, and market opportunity
  • Partner with R&D teams to shape target product profiles (TPPs) and ensure commercial relevance is embedded into early research and development efforts
  • Build robust business cases and strategic assessments to support go/no-go decisions for early-stage assets and portfolio investments
  • Collaborate with business development teams to evaluate external innovation opportunities, including in-licensing, partnerships, and acquisitions
  • Contribute to enterprise portfolio governance processes by integrating commercial insights into investment prioritization and strategic planning
  • Conduct market, competitive, and payer landscape analyses to inform pipeline strategy and commercialization pathways
  • Support cross-functional alignment across commercial, finance, and R&D stakeholders to ensure cohesive portfolio execution
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree required (PhD, MD, MBA, or equivalent); strong preference for life sciences, oncology, or business-focused graduate education
  • 8+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical commercial roles, including marketing, commercial strategy, pipeline development, or business development
  • Strong background in oncology with deep understanding of disease biology, market dynamics, and competitive landscape
  • Experience in early pipeline commercialization, including product positioning, market assessment, and strategic forecasting
  • Prior exposure to consulting or strategic advisory roles in life sciences strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working across R&D and commercial functions in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Experience in business development activities, including due diligence, partnership evaluation, and deal support
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and contribute to enterprise-level investment decisions
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range: $195,880.80 – $265,015.20 annually, based on experience and qualifications
  • Annual performance-based bonus eligibility
  • Long-term incentive and stock-based compensation programs
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plan with strong company contributions
  • Flexible work arrangements where applicable
  • Paid time off with award-winning vacation and holiday programs
  • Career development opportunities within a global biotechnology leader
  • Inclusive, mission-driven culture focused on improving patient outcomes
  • Full benefits package including life, disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
