This role is part of a fully remote engineering team building scalable, user-facing systems that power learning experiences for thousands of students and career switchers. You will contribute to modern web applications and distributed microservices that support high-impact educational products. The position involves working across the full stack, with a strong focus on backend systems, frontend experiences, and platform reliability. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to shape features that directly influence learner outcomes. • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services using modern technologies such as React.js, Next.js, Node.js, and microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and engineers to identify opportunities and deliver impactful product features.
• Contribute to the development and standardization of GraphQL layers and data access patterns across applications.
• Improve system observability by implementing logging, metrics, dashboards, and monitoring solutions.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable deployments and high test coverage across services.
• Lead or contribute to architectural discussions, technical design decisions, and platform improvements.
• Support engineering excellence through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring junior developers.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, system inefficiencies, and technical debt across applications.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily building user-facing web applications.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React.js and Node.js.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and API design.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based deployments.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, REST APIs, and scalable backend system design.
• Strong knowledge of observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and performance tracking.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced, and collaborative engineering environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams.
