Supervisor, Health Information Management

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Supervisor, Health Information Management in the United States.

This role oversees daily Health Information Management operations within a healthcare-focused revenue cycle environment, ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant management of patient health records. It plays a key part in maintaining documentation integrity, supporting regulatory compliance, and optimizing workflows across HIM functions such as release of information and record processing. The position combines operational supervision with quality oversight, ensuring that team performance aligns with organizational standards and healthcare regulations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve turnaround times and resolve documentation or access-related issues. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and centered on continuous improvement and service excellence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading teams while ensuring precision and compliance in healthcare information management.

Accountabilities:
  • Supervise day-to-day Health Information Management operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all workflows.
  • Coordinate team activities related to record processing, release of information, and documentation integrity.
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide coaching, training, and support to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Review and resolve escalated issues related to medical documentation, compliance, and information access.
  • Conduct audits of health records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance (including HIPAA requirements).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
  • Support staff development by reinforcing best practices and delivering ongoing operational guidance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Health Information Management or related healthcare operations.
  • Certification preferred (RHIT, RHIA, or CRCR).
  • Strong understanding of electronic medical records systems and healthcare documentation workflows.
  • Experience with systems such as Epic and One Content is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to support and train team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong keyboarding/data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
