Job Title: Port Engineer

Department: OperationsPosition Overview:The Port Engineer plays a critical role in assisting the Vessel Manager with managing and overseeing company-owned and/or rented equipment. This position operates on a two-week on, one-week off rotation, alternating responsibilities with the Vessel Manager. The Port Engineer collaborates closely with the Vessel Manager and reports to the VP of the Technical Department for equipment-related matters. For logistical and project-related issues, the Port Engineer reports to the Project Manager assigned to the project.Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all equipment assigned to the dredge and their locations.
• Assist in budgeting for vessels under management.
• Collaborate with the Technical Coordinator to input work orders into the Fiix CMMS system for repairs, spare parts, preventative maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
• Manage and oversee the repair and maintenance program for all on-site equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is in good operating condition and that repairs are completed promptly.
• Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and requisition additional supplies as needed.
• Track and requisition technical consumables, lubricants, and water for on-site equipment.
• Monitor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components on dredges and support equipment.
• Enforce safety regulations related to equipment condition and operation.
• Ensure dredges are maintained per the maintenance program and coordinate logistics for repairs and upgrades.
• Keep and update all Class and ABS documentation.
• Contribute to safety and environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 15 years in equipment repair and maintenance, with experience in equipment management.
• Skills:
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic expertise.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Effective mentoring and leadership abilities.
• Certifications:
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
• Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel to remote project locations and work extended durations away from home.
  • Strong focus on teamwork, safety compliance, and results-driven performance.
  • Reliable, motivated, and capable of working under stress.
