Plant Supervisor - Modesto Plant at CRYSTAL CREAMERY INC – Modesto, California

Crystal Creamery is looking for a highly qualified Plant Supervisor to oversee Dairy Manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for supervising production processes to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency are met. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, committed to fostering a positive and productive work environment, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring operational excellence in a fast-paced dairy production facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise Production: Ensure dairy products are produced according to safety and quality standards, driving continuous improvement in production efficiency, and reducing waste.

• Employee Engagement: Ensure that all employees understand their roles and expectations, fostering a culture of respect, safety, and accountability.

• Customer Focused: Maintain a Customer in Mind approach, ensuring that both internal and external customer expectations are met.

• Lead by Example: Guide, mentor, and lead the front-line workforce to achieve high performance and deliver exceptional results.

• Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with other departments, such as maintenance and quality control, to ensure smooth plant operations and resolve issues promptly.

• Training and Development: Educate employees on policies, procedures, safety regulations, and best practices to maintain a high level of operational competence.

• Remove Operational Barriers: Identify and eliminate obstacles that may hinder production, such as equipment breakdowns, by working with maintenance teams for quick resolutions.

• Problem Solving: Anticipate potential issues and roadblocks in production, taking proactive steps to ensure continuous operations.

• Production Metrics: Track daily production metrics, ensure compliance with established KPIs, and share shift progress during the Daily Start-Up Shift Huddle.

• Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that operations are in compliance with state and federal dairy processing and packaging regulations, maintaining an environment in line with SQF standards.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience as a supervisor or lead person in dairy manufacturing, food production, or a similar role. Experience in managing dairy production processes and programs is highly preferred.

• Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of employees, maintaining calm under pressure and delivering results with urgency.

• Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively lead the team and coordinate with other departments.

• Problem-Solving Abilities: Capable of handling complex issues and explaining decisions clearly and respectfully to the team.

• Mechanical Knowledge: Basic understanding of dairy production equipment, utilities, and plant operations.

• Administrative Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage schedules, ordering, regulatory paperwork, and internal and external correspondence.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to learn company-specific software and systems.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of dairy processing and packaging regulations, including experience with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards.
