Peer Support Specialist

Join our dedicated team at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) as a Peer Support Specialist, where your lived experience and professional skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated individual with experience in billing submission to support our community’s health and well-being. Key Responsibilities:

- Provide peer support to patients, fostering a trusting and empathetic environment to promote recovery and wellness.

- Assist patients in navigating healthcare services, including mental health, substance use, and primary care.

- Support patients in understanding and managing their treatment plans.

- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care and ensure patient needs are met.

- Manage billing submissions related to peer support services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing policies.

- Document patient interactions and support activities in accordance with organizational standards.

- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to stay current on best practices and billing procedures.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

- Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery, preferred.

- Previous experience in billing submission and familiarity with healthcare billing processes.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

- Knowledge of healthcare systems, insurance, and billing procedures.

- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to support and care.

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in peer support is a plus.
