Position Summary:
The Agricultural Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving farm infrastructure, machinery, and systems to support efficient agricultural production. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, farm operations, and sustainable practices to ensure crops and livestock (if applicable) thrive under safe and cost-effective conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment & Machinery:
• Maintain, repair, and optimize farm machinery (tractors, harvesters, irrigation pumps, etc.).
• Design and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
Irrigation & Water Systems:
• Design, monitor, and improve irrigation systems for efficiency and water conservation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Infrastructure & Facilities:
• Oversee the construction, repair, and maintenance of farm facilities (greenhouses, packing houses, storage areas, etc.).
• Implement energy-efficient and cost-saving infrastructure improvements.
Sustainability & Innovation:
• Research and apply new agricultural technologies to improve yields and reduce waste.
• Recommend sustainable practices for soil, water, and resource management.
Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure all systems and equipment meet safety standards.
• Support OSHA and agricultural regulatory compliance efforts.
Collaboration:
• Work closely with farm managers, agronomists, logistics, and HR teams to support operational needs.
• Train staff on proper use and care of equipment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in farm operations, machinery maintenance, or engineering role (preferred).
• Knowledge of irrigation, farm automation, and precision agriculture tools.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in outdoor environments.
• Ability to operate farm machinery safely.
• Master electrician certification preferred
