Job Description
The Nick Schnyder Law Firm is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager with 5+ years of accounting experience and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. This role will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the firm and supervise the accounting team, while partnering with leadership and external advisors for higher-level financial strategy. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who excels in execution, accuracy, and team management within a fast-paced personal injury environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, and payroll coordination
Manage and review trust/IOLTA accounting, ensuring compliance and accurate reconciliations
Supervise settlement disbursements, including client payments, attorney fees, and lien payments
Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
Prepare monthly financial statements and internal reports for leadership review
Maintain and improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls
Supervise and support accounting staff (bookkeeper, AP/AR, etc.)
Coordinate with external CPA/tax advisors for year-end close, tax filings, and higher-level financial matters
Assist leadership with budget tracking and basic cash flow monitoring (full ownership of forecasting/strategy)
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and law firm financial requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, with supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of trust/IOLTA accounting (highly preferred)
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a plaintiff personal injury firm
Familiarity with case management systems (Filevine, Clio, Needles, etc.)
Experience supervising small teams
