Reliability Manager - Tortilla Production

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Reliability Manager to oversee the maintenance and reliability of our tortilla manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.

- Lead troubleshooting efforts and coordinate repairs for production machinery and systems.

- Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

- Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

- Collaborate with production teams to optimize equipment performance and process efficiency.

- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on equipment performance metrics.

- Train and supervise maintenance staff to ensure safety and operational standards are met.

- Stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements in equipment reliability.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.

- Proven experience in maintenance management within a food manufacturing environment.

- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights.

Scope of Role

This Role will manage the personnel; utilize technical expertise and knowledge for quality and efficient operation of the packaging lines throughout the facility. Work with all departments to ensure timely ordering and delivery of parts and other materials as needed. Assist Maintenance staff with historical information regarding parts and services ordered and cost control. Identify, establish, and monitor PM flow for timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.

Prepare, review, place, and track purchase through the process, inputs all changes into the inventory system including system updates. Provide accurate receiving documentation and inventory reporting as required. Address all downtime and investigate the root cause to identify potential changes and gains in production. In addition, the Maintenance Manager ensures that facilities and processes conform to GMP, USDA, and FSMA regulations by managing Quality Systems and documentation. Must be able to establish expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.

Principal Accountabilities

Requirements:

  • Responsible for initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning
  • Makes safety Job #1, including lock-out/tag-out procedures available to employees.
  • Ensures that all aspects of the existing company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan.
  • Estimates required hours on work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required to perform the task.
  • Plans jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce
  • Determines and includes QA/QC requirements on jobs as needed.
  • Procures equipment and specialized tools required to perform work
  • Writes clear and concise work procedures
  • Determines and arranges for parts required to perform the work.
  • Plans parts for all projects to decrease "wrench time" and maximize efficiency.
  • Coordinates priority setting with the management team - places specific emphasis on obtaining the input of operations personnel in the setting of priorities
  • Keeps bills of materials current.
  • Responsible for equipment and repair parts data entry and management.
  • Ensures all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished.
  • Participates in outage planning activities such as scope identification and control, scheduling, coordination, risk assessment, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicates with contractor / vendor resources directly on specific work orders assigned to the contractors / vendors and the performance expectations of the work order.
  • Compiles and delivers reports regarding the work execution management process.
  • Motivate employees for maximum performance.
  • Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work
  • Follow-up to ensure parts have been received in the requested amount of time.
  • Prepare parts and supplies requisitions for purchase order approval, including obtaining accurate pricing and delivery instructions from vendors.
  • Schedule work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
