About This Position
The RN performs under the direct supervision and delegated assignments by the Department Coordinator to achieve quality patient care. Occasionally, the RN is cross-utilized in different departments throughout Forrest General Hospital as deemed necessary by the Department Manager and Surgical Services Supervisor. The RN Staff Nurse shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Nurse Manager as evidenced by documentation in Electronic Health Record, direct observation, and patient evaluations of their care. The RN is responsible to the Department Coordinator for patient care and ultimately accountable to the Nursing Director.

- Performs all the duties of required of an Endoscopy staff nurse.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
- Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation and verbal communication. Also, communicates pertinent information to all health care team members.
- Exhibits an ability to work with minimal supervision during endoscopic procedures, admission, and recovery of patients and other related procedures.
- Maintains timely and accurate nursing records and ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
- Storing, checking and administering drugs by established standards and guidelines.
- Participating in the care and maintenance of endoscopes and other specialized equipment, ensuring an agreed standard of decontamination at all times including accurate records of traceability of all endoscopes and associated equipment.
- Maintains own clinical skills are staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment and certifications required in the specific nursing area, including EKG rhythm identification, Endoscopy specific education, Moderate Sedation, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform all technical skills required for the Endoscopy Department ’s population by rendering professional nursing care including administering medications; starting IVs; venipuncture; blood products; perform technical assistance during diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopic procedures; Setting, monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with established standards and regulations.
- Demonstrates the aptitude for safely positioning and assisting patients during Endoscopy procedures.
- Implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care, educates patient and family about diagnosis, treatments or prescribed medical regimen and medications in accordance with patient and family readiness and ability to learn. Maintains personal contact with patients and relatives, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity, and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and uses professional judgment to respond promptly with intervention when clinical changes occur, and prevention of complications in patients.
- Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., customer service, safety, infection, control, and compliance standards.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
- A graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.
Work Experience:
- Minimal 1-2 years nursing experience required.
- Critical Care experience preferred.
- Previous Endoscopy experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
