Job Summary:
The Master Machine Technician is a senior-level expert responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency by leading advanced diagnostics and repairs. The position also plays a key role in mentoring maintenance staff, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain complex manufacturing equipment, including automated production lines, conveyors, CNC machines, and robotic systems.
  • Lead response to critical equipment failures, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Execute precision maintenance tasks such as alignment, calibration, and equipment tuning to meet production standards.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC logic to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Develop, implement, and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
  • Partner with production and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance, throughput, and product quality.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., TPM, 5S, Kaizen).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation using CMMS systems.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades, retrofits, or replacements.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing maintenance or industrial equipment repair.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical controls, PLCs, VFDs, and automation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex, multi-system issues.
  • Experience working with CNC machinery, robotics, or high-speed production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and regulatory requirements in manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or automation (e.g., journeyman, mechatronics certification).
  • Experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo).
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, or oil analysis.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, climbing, and reaching.
  • Comfortable working around moving machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces as needed.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a fast-paced manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
