SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Systems Engineer III.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: SEACORP is seeking a Systems Engineer III for their Tactical Solutions Business Area. The Software ApplicationLead will be integral to the VIRGINIA SSN 812 Mission Systems efforts. Thisrole supports the NUWC SSN-812 Lead Software Engineer, CHENG, and TechnicalProject Manager in all software application elements. The lead will oversee thedevelopment of Lockheed Martin applications, with a critical focus onmaintaining the project schedule and provide oversight for thedevelopment of PaaS services for the SSN-812 platform. The software developedis for a cutting-edge PaaS with an integrated Real-Time Control System. Thisinnovative approach enables the SSN-812 program to deliver high-performance,low-latency control for critical submarine systems. The project spans multiplephases, from prototype development to tactical integration, testing, andqualification, leveraging Lockheed Martin as the primary subcontractor.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Provide Subject Matter Expert oversight for the development of SSN-812 Applications.
- Ensure that software development supports performance, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Assist in defining software requirements; review and provide commentary on proposed requirements to ensure deliverables meet program objectives.
- Oversee and support the configuration management of software diagrams and product disclosures.
- Support the C2I Integrated Product Team (IPT) by participating in working groups related to applications.
- Collaborate with the Lockheed Martin co-lead in working groups to define purpose, roles, and responsibilities, and to track timelines and action items.
- Provide guidance to developers on SSN 812 software approaches and maintain awareness of current software trends.
- Assess current and future software and provide recommendations to the lead systems engineer, including facilitating software evaluations, risk assessments, and trade-off analyses.
- Engage in meetings and working groups to maintain awareness of current SSN 812 software efforts and provide recommendations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline.
Experience: 7 years of experience.
Required experience:
- A background in engineering and software development.
- A strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes, including systems engineering, waterfall, and agile development processes.
- A solid understanding of software testing methodologies, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate effectively with peers.
- Deep understanding of Platform as a Service architecture.
- Understanding of Linux, Real time control systems, K8, Docker and other containerization applications.
As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship
Location: Newport, RI
Travel: Monthly (approximately once per month)
Clearance: Secret
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
