This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of science, strategy, and operational excellence within a global clinical research environment. The position is responsible for shaping scientific direction, ensuring rigor across laboratory and clinical trial support functions, and driving innovation in methodologies and capabilities. Acting as both an internal scientific authority and external representative, you will collaborate closely with executive leadership, clients, and regulatory stakeholders. The role combines hands-on scientific oversight with high-level strategic planning, ensuring alignment between R&D, clinical operations, and evolving industry standards. You will lead and develop multidisciplinary scientific teams while fostering a culture of performance, quality, and continuous improvement. This is a highly visible role with significant impact on service delivery, scientific integrity, and long-term organizational growth.
- Provide strategic scientific leadership by aligning organizational vision with execution across R&D and clinical operations teams.
- Partner with clinical operations leadership to define and implement scientific strategy and operational priorities.
- Lead, manage, and develop scientific and R&D teams, ensuring performance, resource allocation, and delivery of key objectives.
- Oversee talent development initiatives, including onboarding, training programs, coaching, and career progression planning.
- Act as scientific escalation point for internal teams and external clients, ensuring timely and effective scientific solutions.
- Guide validation activities, biomarker development, and implementation of new technologies in regulated environments.
- Coordinate cross-functional improvement initiatives to enhance processes, quality, and service capabilities.
- Oversee audit responses, regulatory readiness, and compliance with laboratory standards and industry frameworks.
- Support external engagement strategies including conferences, client interactions, and 3PL collaborations.
Requirements:
- PhD with 10+ years of experience in clinical trials or regulatory laboratory environments, or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing scientific or technical teams.
- Strong expertise in clinical laboratory operations within regulated environments.
- Solid understanding of GCP, GLP, GCLP, CAP, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in methodology validation for clinical trials and applied scientific problem-solving.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Preferred certifications include board credentials in clinical chemistry, immunology, toxicology, or related scientific disciplines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate in a global matrix environment.
