Job Description

DS Engineer Sr. Principal

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a DS Engineer Sr. Principal in United States.

This is a highly hands-on, field-intensive engineering role supporting large-scale telecommunications infrastructure modernization across critical defense environments. The DS Engineer Sr. Principal plays a key part in bridging field conditions with technical design, ensuring accurate data collection, installation execution, and infrastructure validation across ISP, OSP, fiber optic, and communication equipment facilities. Working in complex and mission-driven environments, the role combines surveying, installation support, and engineering collaboration to enable reliable and secure network deployments. You will operate directly in the field, often in remote and high-security locations, contributing to global modernization programs with significant technical and operational impact. The position requires strong technical judgment, physical field capability, and close coordination with engineering leads to ensure alignment between design intent and real-world implementation. Travel is extensive, offering exposure to diverse operational sites and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Accountabilities:
  • Conduct detailed field surveys of Inside Plant, Outside Plant, fiber optic, and communication equipment locations, capturing measurements, site conditions, constraints, and photographic documentation
  • Support installation activities including cabling, rack and panel setup, fiber routing, equipment mounting, labeling, and pathway preparation under technical supervision
  • Produce accurate field redlines, survey notes, and as-built updates to support engineering design development
  • Assist engineering leads in defining pathways, conduit routing, telecom room layouts, grounding/bonding, and fiber distribution design inputs
  • Validate installed infrastructure against technical standards, design intent, and quality requirements
  • Support troubleshooting of field issues such as routing conflicts, pathway blockages, and installation discrepancies
  • Coordinate with site personnel for access, logistics, and execution planning while providing daily updates and risk reporting

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in telecommunications infrastructure, installation, or distribution systems engineering
  • Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain it) and U.S. citizenship required
  • Strong hands-on experience with ISP/OSP/fiber optic/cellular equipment location surveys or installations
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, fiber systems, conduit pathways, and telecom room infrastructure
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floorplans, and engineering diagrams
  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA standards (including TIA-568, TIA-569, TIA-606, TIA-607) and related infrastructure guidelines
  • Physical capability to work in field environments, including climbing, lifting, cable pulling, and confined space access
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce precise technical documentation
  • Willingness to travel 75–100% globally, often to remote or high-security military installations

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range: $128,039 – $173,229 (based on experience, location, and contract factors)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match (pre- and post-tax contributions)
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick leave, holidays, parental leave, and military/bereavement leave
  • Approximately 15 days of annual PTO plus 10 paid holidays (pro-rated based on hire date)
  • Up to 160 hours of paid family leave in a rolling 12-month period (eligible employees)
  • Short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and additional voluntary coverage options
  • Flexible work arrangements where mission and travel requirements allow.
