Position Description

Summers-Taylor, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Electrical Operations Manager to join the Osborne Electric Division in Johnson City, TN. As the Industrial Electrical Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all electrical operations primarily within industrial environments, including asphalt and concrete plant plants, heavy roadway infrastructure and utilities. Daily oversite of estimating and bidding, financial management, personnel supervision, and day-to-day operational execution will also be expected. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Job Duties:

Operations & Project Management

  1. Oversee field supervisors, foremen, and electricians, ensuring productivity, quality workmanship, and adherence to safety standards and company policies.
  2. Oversee project planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout for industrial electrical projects.
  3. Resolve operational challenges and implement continuous process improvements.

Estimating & Bidding

  1. Lead the estimating and bidding process for industrial electrical projects.
  2. Review project specifications, drawings, and scope to develop accurate and competitive bids.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, estimators and supervisors during bid preparation.
  4. Analyze labor, material, and subcontractor costs to maximize profitability while remaining competitive.

Financial & Budget Management

  1. Manage and monitor division budgets and project financials.
  2. Track job costs, labor productivity, and margins throughout the project lifecycle.
  3. Review financial reports and take corrective action to address variances.

Leadership & Personnel Management

  1. Supervise and support foremen and field personnel.
  2. Train, mentor, and evaluate employees within the division.
  3. Set performance expectations and promote accountability and teamwork.
  4. Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Position Requirements

Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical construction or operations management.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial reports, and project profitability.
  3. Experience supervising foremen and managing field and office personnel.
  4. Strong background in estimating, bidding, and cost control for electrical or construction projects.
  5. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  6. TN Electrical License

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Industrial or Commercial Electrical background preferred, with knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and industrial work environments.
  2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field a plus.
  3. OSHA safety training or equivalent certifications desirable.
