We’re growing our Portland, OR team and looking for a Construction Technology Engineer who’s passionate about turning project plans into accurate, buildable field solutions supporting GPS-guided equipment, survey devices, and the teams who rely on them every day.

Position Summary

As a Construction Technology Engineer, you’ll develop and manage 3D positioning datasets, perform engineering and quantity analysis, and provide hands-on support for our construction technology systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, estimators, and field crews to ensure our models and machine control data are accurate, constructible, and aligned with contract documents.

Position Description

  • Analyze information from site inspections, contract drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documentation
  • Support preconstruction evaluations by identifying potential risks and constructability concerns
  • Perform earthwork quantity studies and assist estimating with takeoffs as needed
  • Participate in procurement activities, including material buyout, submittals, and value-added substitutions
  • Build and verify machine control models (surfaces/linework) using Autodesk Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center
  • Identify design conflicts and ambiguities; work with project teams to generate RFIs and resolve plan inconsistencies
  • Update models based on revisions from Project Engineers/Project Managers
  • Maintain an organized file structure using established naming/versioning conventions
  • Create machine cards in Trimble Business Center
  • Develop exhibits that support planning and field execution
  • Perform drone flights for topo surveys and quantity calculations
  • Prepare as-built drawings from topographic data collected onsite

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • 1–5 years of general civil construction experience

Technical skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Trimble Business Center and/or Autodesk Civil 3D (3D modeling and surface development)
  • Strong understanding of surveying methods and machine guidance equipment/software
  • Ability to interpret plans/specs and translate them into field-ready, accurate models

Licensing

  • FAA Part 107 Drone License (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
