CNC Manufacturing Support Operator at Waseyabek Development Company – Muskegon, Michigan
About This Position
Position Summary
The CNC Manufacturing Support Technician assists CNC machining operations by performing material handling, part finishing, basic assembly, inspection, and general production support tasks. This role helps maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas, supports shipping and logistics activities, and may travel to customer and vendor locations using a company vehicle. The position requires reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Essential Functions
- Support CNC machining teams with general production support tasks
- Perform deburring, cleaning, basic assembly, and visual inspection of machined parts
- Prepare and stage materials, tools, fixtures, and consumables for machining operations
- Move raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished parts between work areas as well as travel to and from customer and vendor sites using a company vehicle
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in line with 5S standards
- Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparation of finished parts for shipment
- Complete basic production, quality, and traceability records
- Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements
- Assist with simple continuous improvement activities such as workplace organization and waste reduction
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to operate a company vehicle as required
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements
- Demonstrated attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy
- Basic math skills and ability to use simple measuring tools (e.g., calipers, tape measures)
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance
- Ability to safely perform physical job duties, including standing for extended periods, lifting, and moving materials
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
Physical Qualifications
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and move about the production floor.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle, feel, and reach with precision tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
- Visual acuity required to read blueprints, technical documents, and to perform precision inspections.
- Occasional bending, stooping, or climbing when working around machinery or accessing workholding setups.
Work Environment
- CNC machining shop floor environments.
- Exposure to moderate noise, coolant, lubricants, and airborne particles typical of a machining environment.
- Requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear when on the shop floor.
- Collaboration with operators, engineers, and quality personnel in both office and production settings.
