About the Role
Reporting to the COO, the Head of Operations is responsible for running and continuously improving Tersus’ core operations. This role is highly execution-focused: owning day-to-day performance across our facilities, supply chain, and fulfillment workflows, while building the systems, team structure, and operating discipline required to scale.
You will lead a team of Operations Managers and be deeply involved in how work gets done. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, solving real operational problems, and driving measurable improvements in throughput, quality, cost, and service.
What You’ll Do
Operational Execution & Scale
- Own day-to-day operational performance across Recommerce and Down Recycling lines of business, ensuring we consistently deliver quality service and strive for excellence. Focusing on productivity, quality, cost, and safety targets.
- Translate company goals into clear operational plans, schedules, and priorities. Ensure we are making the best long term decisions for Tersus, and not making short sighted decisions.
- Never settle - by identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies and drive practical, implementable solutions.
Process Improvement
- Standardize workflows, SOPs, and operating procedures across facilities.
- Innovate without fear - by implementing continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce rework, and lower unit costs.
- Use data and frontline feedback to prioritize and validate improvements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, hire, and develop Operations Managers and frontline leaders, treating everyone with respect while insisting on the highest standards at every level.
- Set clear expectations, establish accountability, and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Build a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Our people are our engine - own clear, consistent internal communication across the operations organization, ensuring teams understand priorities, expectations, performance, and changes as the business evolves.
Performance Management
- Own the Operations P&L, ensuring revenue commitments are met while actively managing labor, throughput, and costs to protect and improve gross margin.
- Define and own operational KPIs (ex. productivity, quality, revenue, and gross margin).
- Review performance regularly, identify gaps, and drive corrective action.
- Partner with Finance and the COO on labor planning, capacity planning, and cost management.
Supply Chain & Logistics
- Oversee inbound/outbound logistics and inventory management.
- Work directly with suppliers, carriers, and partners to ensure reliable execution.
- Improve inventory accuracy, flow, and visibility.
Quality, Compliance & Risk
- Ensure consistent quality standards across processes and facilities.
- Maintain compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
- Support and/or lead internal and external facility audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up corrective actions.
- Proactively identify operational risks and implement mitigation plans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Partnerships team to meet our customers where they want to be met - ensuring alignment on inventory shipments, customer requirements, and ongoing client feedback.
- Serve as the operational point of contact for key external partners when needed.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Significant experience leading operations in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics-heavy environment.
- Proven ability to manage teams, processes, and performance in a fast-moving operation.
- Strong understanding of supply chain, inventory management, and fulfillment operations.
- Comfortable in an ambiguous, fast-paced and high growth start-up environment
- Highly hands-on mindset and willing to jump into problems personally to get things done.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in operations, business, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in laundry, textile processing, warehouse operations, or 3PL environments.
- Experience working with apparel, footwear, or outdoor brands.
- Exposure to e-commerce fulfillment or reverse logistics.
- Interest or experience in circular economy, sustainability, or reuse/recycling systems.
- Experience working with and communicating across bilingual or Spanish-speaking teams.

The pay range for this role is:
85,000 - 110,000 USD per year(HQ)
