Job Description:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Sales

Reports To: Sales Manager

Job Summary: The Sales Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for potential projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, collaborating with various departments, and ensuring that all estimates are completed in a timely manner to support the sales team in securing new business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare project cost estimates using established templates, procedures, and under direct supervision.
  • Collect and input data for estimates, ensuring accuracy and completeness according to provided guidelines.
  • Review project specifications and drawings to identify scope, referring complex or ambiguous issues to the Project Estimator or manager.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing, following standard protocols.
  • Assist the sales team with proposal preparation and bid packages, focusing on administrative and support tasks.
  • Maintain and update the estimate and pricing database, ensuring records are current and organized.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify straightforward project requirements, escalating complex inquiries.
  • Participate in project handover meetings to support the transition from sales to operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of established procedures and with limited discretion.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in estimating or a related support role.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and materials; able to follow established procedures and templates.
  • Proficiency with basic estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities; able to work collaboratively under supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines within defined parameters.
  • Limited discretion; refers complex or ambiguous issues to Project Estimator or manager.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
