Job Summary
The Construction Manager (CM) will be engaged inthe project from the initiation / definition phase through final commissioningand closeout. Below is list of activities / deliverables the CM may be involvedin throughout the life cycle of a project from initiation to finalcommissioning and closeout. Project scopes vary as will the roles of the CM foreach project.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Construction Group to manage capitalprojects through the entire life cycle from definition to closeout
• Participate as a member of project teams todevelop project scope, project cost estimate, project schedule
• Participate on site field / scope visits
• Assist others in developing schedule includingcritical paths
• Develop detailed construction plans and identifyoutage requirements to implement new facilities
• Identify required permits
• Develop detailed estimates
• Work with Utility Company major accounts groupregarding outages that affect external/internal customers
• Develop construction contract bid packages;review responses and participate in vendor selection
oDevelop bid package / RFP
oConduct pre-bid meeting with contractors
• Participate in design constructability reviewsfor all disciplines (site, foundation, electrical & relay, T-Line) toidentify and eliminate costly expenses during the construction phase
• Develop detailed construction plan, whichincludes a list of outages, exact work dates, and construction resourcerequirements
• Identifies and addresses all project safetyhazards and environmental concerns. Responsible for monitoring and routinereporting on project construction schedule and cost
• Perform quality assurance checks duringconstruction
• Monitor schedule and progress versus requestedin service date
• Responsible for closeout of constructioncontracts and as-built documentation
• Monitors that all Utility Company procedures andprocesses are followed so that we will comply with all regulatory requirements
• Provide Construction Management over site tocontractors responsible for constructing and commissioning TransmissionSubstations and Transmission Lines across the Utility Company System
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering orConstruction Management;
• Requires zero (0) years with less than one (1)year experience in the Electric Utility Transmission & Distribution,Construction, Manufacturing, or similar industries experience required;
• Must have superior interpersonal, leadership,communication, organizational, and presentation skills;
• Requires a proven ability to communicateeffectively both verbally and written;
• Must possess advanced knowledge of MS Officesuite of products (especially MS Word and MS Excel);
• Requires the submittal of transcripts.
Working Conditions:
• Work is conducted in an office environment(Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-sitework locations
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant orconstruction atmosphere
• Interaction with other team members, as well assupervisors and client personnel
• Working plant, construction, and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis
PhysicalRequirements:
• Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation,which permits employee to communicate effectively
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of timewith or without reasonable accommodation
• Sufficient vision or other powers ofobservation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employeeto conduct analysis and investigations
