The Manager-Quality is responsible for the overall implementation, maintenance, and verification of Benoit’s Quality Management System. The Quality Manager-Ennis will collaborate with the Quality Manager-Houma to support Benoit’s Quality continuous improvement initiatives and receives their authority from and reports to the Director-Quality.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage quality personnel (Quality supervisor, Thread inspectors, Quality Assistants, Quality Control Specialists & Leads) and coordinate activities of all Quality Department personnel.
- Collaborate with Quality Manager-Houma regarding quality improvement projects and manage cross-departmental efforts including but not limited to product technology, Information Technology, Production, Maintenance and Sales.
- Establish statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error, and determining levels of confidence.
- Conduct parts inspection, including: layout, in process, final, and receiving using all types of mechanical inspection.
- Develop best practices for thread measurement techniques and improve First Article Approval (FAI) and thread inspection process.
- Manage and maintain compliance of the QMS for company, customer, statutory and regulatory requirements including applicable ISO and API requirements.
- Conduct and lead internal/external QMS audits, out of specification (OOS), investigations, deviations, CAR, etc.
- Monitor and report on quality data for CAR, NCR, deviations, complaints, material reviews, equipment calibration/PM and SPC trending.
- Manage and report daily and monthly quality systems KPI’S and track improvement projects.
- Manage Employee training programs, gauge training, process training, and evaluation of effectiveness.
- Responsible for the continual monitoring of all products during manufacturing to assure conformance to established product specifications.
- Facilitate cross-departmental projects/investigations that affect the QMS, including Yearly Management Reviews.
- Maintain all Quality/Process related documentation in an organized fashion including writing standard operating procedures, inspection run reports, and document control including maintenance of records as required by Benoit, API, ISO, and customers.
- Manage supplier performance by conducting internal and external audits.
- Assist the Technology Group with the development of inspection procedures for new Benoit connections.
- Responsible for the control, calibration, and maintenance of all tests, measuring, and inspection equipment used to determine final acceptance of Benoit products.
- Implement the investigation, reporting, and subsequent disposition of nonconforming products.
- Evaluate non-conformities, audit results, quality records, and customer complaints and initiate a corrective action plan if necessary.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, engineers, and managers/supervisors to develop, implement, and maintain quality controls and improvements.
- Maintain and distribute Customer Specifications on a controlled copy basis.
- Lead CAPEX projects under the supervision of Director of Quality including purchase of inspection equipment and any other needs for the Quality Department.
- Contribute to quality by assisting with employee training programs, interpreting, and enforcing Benoit quality procedures, monitoring employee performance and by communicating overall awareness of good quality.
- Support 3rd party services and Licensee programs.
- Daily management and maintenance of the QMS, which may include assignments that require travel, off-hour, or weekend work.
- The job duties may change, and additional duties may be added as per the directions of the Director-Quality.
Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial/Metallurgy/Material Science), Business or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of quality management experience in a manufacturing or oil and gas environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of ISO:9001, API, ASNT and other applicable quality standards.
- Working knowledge of API Thread Gauges.
- Experience with failure analysis techniques.
- Experience in Heat Treatment, Quenching, Tempering, and stress relieving process.
- Ability to read and develop material test reports (MTR).
- ASQ, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, NDT Level II/ Level III, lead auditor certified candidates are preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 with advanced skills in data analysis (MS Excell, Minitab, Power BI, and etc.)
- Effective in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with employees and management
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Effective leadership and organizational skills.
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record and pass motor vehicle report (MVR) checks
Qualifications may include, but are not limited to:
- Lift, carry, move, push, pull, and adjust objects to waist height up to 30 lbs. without assistance, up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Frequent use of stairs and walking and standing in production and warehouse environments.
- Ability to climb stairs and access manufacturing equipment areas.
- Sit for extended periods for meetings and computer work.
- Frequent use of copier, printer, phone, and computer.
- Occasional use of handheld tools and measuring devices
- Exposure to all outdoor weather elements, temperature extremes, noise, and shop environment.
- Ability to travel up to 25% domestically.
