About This Position

The summer student will support the development and implementation of health, safety, and maintenance processes as the organization transitions to an enhanced Safety Management System (SMS) and future digital platforms. This role works closely with HSE, Maintenance, and field teams to build project frameworks, review existing procedures, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HSE and Maintenance to develop project frameworks, timelines, deliverables, and change‑management plans.
  • Review current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documented practices, and safety programs for accuracy and alignment.
  • Partner with HSE to ensure regulatory compliance and support upgrades to the permitting system and SMS integration.
  • Develop documentation, templates, and structures that support future migration into a digital system (e.g., MaintainX).
  • Work closely with technicians and field staff to gather operational insights and ensure effective implementation.
  • Participate in Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) committee meetings.
  • Support rollouts of new procedures, systems, and safety initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program (health & safety, engineering, technology, business, or a related field)
  • Experience working in HSE, maintenance, operations, or a similar industrial environment as asset
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both office and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines and project deliverables.
  • Experience with digital maintenance or safety platforms (e.g., MaintainX) is an asset.
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to JOHS committee activities.
