The Director of Business Development will be responsible for identifying, securing, and expanding client relationships with clinical sponsors and CROs, driving revenue and long-term partnerships. This position blends strategic thinking with hands-on sales execution, requiring expertise in consultative selling, account management, and lead generation. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally, manage sales pipelines, and contribute to the development of effective business strategies. - Develop and execute business development strategies to generate new sales opportunities and revenue growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers and influencers at clinical sponsors and CROs
- Conduct professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities to secure client meetings and obtain budget requests
- Track and manage all client interactions, accounts, and follow-up activities within Salesforce or equivalent CRM systems
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams to align on client needs and contribute to team-building initiatives
- Meet and exceed annual sales targets and contribute strategically and tactically to the business development team
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain industry expertise
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in sales and business development within the Pharma, Biotech, or Clinical Research industry
- Proven ability to generate leads, manage a sales pipeline, and close deals independently
- Experience in client governance, financial account planning, and territory management
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional client interaction experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities
- Proficiency with sales automation systems, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and motivate internal and external teams
