Position Summary
Under general supervision, Quality Technician supports daily quality activities within the production environment to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards. This position is responsible for performing inspections, documenting results, monitoring material status, and assisting in the execution of quality processes on the production floor.
The Quality Technician functions as a technical support resource and communicates findings to the Quality Engineer and Director of Quality. All final quality decisions, including product disposition and corrective action approval, are made by the Quality Engineer and/or Director of Quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for management of the Operational Internal Non-Conforming Product program to include KPI tracking and reporting.
  • Responsible for proficient operation of lab equipment to deliver accurate material test results within lab scope.
  • Responsible for inventory of Gage Calibration equipment.
  • Perform daily quality inspections on the production floor to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal requirements.
  • Monitor and manage material placed on hold, including identification, segregation, documentation, and follow-up disposition.
  • Verify that Operations is following approved Work Instructions and Control Plans; address and communicate any deviations.
  • Review, verify, and properly file Job Orders and production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Report any product found out of customer specifications to the Quality Engineer and support investigation activities.
  • Perform RB testing as required and accurately record results in the ERP system.
  • Coordinate the shipment of samples to suppliers for testing, track and document test results upon receipt.
  • Post and communicate Quality Alerts on the production floor to ensure awareness of issues and corrective actions.
  • Support training activities related to quality procedures, inspection methods, and customer requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.

  • N/A
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001QMS Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Industry Standards
  • Proficient in Measurement System Analysis
  • Ability to communicate Metrology needs and assist in Control Plan development
  • Ability to assist in PFMEA development and updates
  • Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis techniques, including 5 Whys methodology.
  • Knowledge of quality control principles and production inspection practices.
  • Experience with document control and maintaining accurate records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and industry best practices.
  • Understanding of 5S methodology and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Ability to support quality processes on the production floor and communicate findings effectively.
  • Works under guidance; decisions are escalated to the Quality Engineer or Director of Quality.
  • Experience assisting in supervision or coordinating team activities is a plus.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Manufacturing experience – required.
  • Industry knowledge – preferred/desirable.
Licenses/Designations and Certifications
  • ASQ Certifications in Foundational Quality, preferred.
    • Certified Calibration Technician
    • Certified Quality Inspector
  • ISO 9001:2015 Foundation
  • Lean 5S Awareness
  • Introduction to Quality Control
  • Root Cause Analysis / Problem Solving Basics
  • Safety and OSHA Awareness
