Title: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Reports Directly To: Facilities Manager

Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that machinery and equipment in the manufacturing facility are running smoothly on all shifts. Conduct regular maintenance checks, troubleshooting problems and perform repairs on equipment as needed. Install new machinery and equipment and ensure that it runs safely and efficiently; to meet the production requirements needed.

The Maintenance mechanic needs to have a good understanding of how mechanical and electrical systems work and be able to read technical manuals and schematics. Must have experience using power tools and welding equipment. Have strong communication skills. The Maintenance mechanic must work closely with the production team and other departments to confirm that needed equipment and machinery is kept working and that problems are taken care of timely and efficiently.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Enhance equipment performance by making adjustments and recommending modifications and recommending improvements.

2. Working with Production Scheduler and Production Supervisor to coordinate and schedule monthly, weekly or daily preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and equipment troubleshooting.

3. Maintain up to date records of scheduled and prior preventive maintenance of equipment and machinery.

4. Supervise Maintenance technicians.

5. Monitor and maintain inventory of spare parts.

6. Coordinate ordering of parts as needed with Materials Buyer.

7. Coordinate scheduling and activities of visiting service personnel.

8. Help maintain TPM system per IATF16949 requirements.

9. Maintain a clean and safe working environment by complying with company, state and federal rules and regulations

10. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing results as needed, working well with others and sharing knowledge of equipment and processes with fellow employees.

Educational Requirements and Years of Experience:

1. Excellent mechanical aptitude with basic understanding hydraulic, electrical and mechanical functions in a plastic, injection molding manufacturing plant.

2. 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or similar position.

3. Mechanical aptitude demonstrated by previous work experience.

4. Basic understanding of quality systems such as ISO, QS 9000 and IATF16949.

Administrative, Technological and Behavioral Skills:

1. Computer Literate - Understanding of the operation of a Personal Computer and peripheral equipment. Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) or equivalent

2. Planning and Organizations Skills – Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision. Good attention to details. Ability to multi-task by handling several projects at the same time. Must be able to work in fast paced environment

3. Good communication skills – Able to verbally communicate ideas clearly and concisely - Must be able to adjust communication to the applicable audience

4. Good customer service skills – Sense of urgency: ability to react appropriately to customer/team-members demands. Ability to listen/understand customer/team-members requirements and communicate these to relevant parties timely. Follow-up with issues brought up internally/externally that could affect a customer with expediency

5. Can- DO attitude - pleasant demeanor when interacting with individuals outside/inside the company, even on heated situations

6. Confidentiality – Ability to handle customer/company sensitive (proprietary) information with discretion

7. Sound decision-making skills – Ability to track down machine problems and decide the best route to take, including if repair is outside level of competency

8. Ability to handle moderate to high stress due to the pressure of deadlines, fast paced environment

9. Ability to lift/push up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to work standing up for 8 hours at a time

10. Ability to work overtime, varying shifts and any day of the week as required

11. Must wear personal protective equipment in required areas
